Mold can grow on just about any surface, be it ceilings, walls, insulation, carpet, or sheetrock. Obviously it can grow on a lot more things. It loves moist, damp places. You might have roof leak, or a basement flooding issue...guess what, mold lives for these conditions. The moisture is what mold needs to grow, and once it starts growing, it starts destroying.

Look for signs of water or moisture, especially in dark, hidden areas of the home. If the mold tester does find mold, then he or she should be trained and prepared to write a protocol for remediating the mold.
